Government CIO, David Kennedy, will shortly leave his current role at the NSW Office of State Revenue to take up a newly-formed CIO position at Communities NSW. The move, five weeks in the planning, will provide Kennedy with oversight over the government department’s 24 individual agencies, covering arts and culture; sports, recreation and parklands; and community development. Cloud platform has merits

Former OSR CIO moves to Communities NSW
David Kennedy, the former Chief Information Officer (CIO) at the NSW Office of State Revenue (OSR) will commence in the role of CIO at Communities NSW (CNSW) this week. NSW tax office to shift to hosted email
The New South Wales Office of State Revenue (OSR) has kicked off a proof of concept trial of hosted email services in a strategy that will prove a test-case for State Government cloud adoption. Microsoft’s BPOS (business productivity suite) and Google Apps on trial to potentially replace the OSR’s in-house Novell GroupWise system. OSR chief information officer David Kennedy made a case for shifting email services to a software-as-a-service (SaaS) model after first presenting a risk profile report to his stakeholders in which the pros of cloud adoption were shown to outweigh the cons. http://www.itnews.com.au/News/173967,nsw-tax-office-to-shift-to-hosted-email.aspx
